The River Creek community in Loudon County, VirginiaRiver Creek, located just thirty miles outside of Washington in Leesburg, was the first gated, planned country club community in the metro area. It was founded in 1997 in grounds once occupied by sprawling plantations on the banks of the Potomac. The land once known as Edward’s Ferry played critical roles in both the Civil War and the Way of 1812, earning a tremendous historical significance. Today, a different type of gentry desports themselves here, among them lawmakers and trendsetters from the Capital. The 1,100+ homes of the community are now all  completed and sold, but a modest turnover means that stock is reasonable.

Properties in River Creek start around $400,000, going up to around $2 million. On the less expensive end, Colonial-style manses of 3-5 bedrooms feature gracious porticos, brick exteriors, high ceilings, and sweeping floor plans. The more expensive homes are breathtaking, large stone fortresses with loads of bonus space (sunrooms, game rooms, home gyms, etc.), massive floor plans, and every luxury.

At the highest end, River Creek homes are veritable palaces, surrounded by mature landscaping, with no expense spared on trim or extras. Ceilings soar three stories above marble floors, windows behold lush green space, and bedrooms are as sizable as you could imagine. Wooded, oversized lots back up on the River Creek Golf Course, meaning that every new day greets you with a show-stopping view!

The community absolutely abounds with amenities. The golf course, of course, is a major one. An 18-hole championship course designed by Ault-Clark, its riverside vistas are jaw-dropping. Not to be overlooked: multiple pools, tennis courts, open green space, walking trails, play areas, and a huge fitness center! A special level of membership in the country club is reserved for residents as well. Combine all this with low crime rates and great schools, and it’s understandable that River Creek ranks consistently among NoVA’s top places to live.
