It's an expansive area with an equally expansive and inclusive school district serving the students in Loudoun County. The school district was first established in 1870 and as the Washington metro-area grew, so too did the need for a county with high-quality education for the children of those running the country.

Those living in the area have found a beautiful balance of work and home life, and have beautiful nature at every turn. To better understand why this county has grown into such a happy and prosperous part of Virginia, it's key to look at the county's growth. Loudoun’s history dates back to 1757, when it was broken off from adjacent Fairfax County. It took its name from John Campbell, who was at the time the Governor General of Virginia as well as the Fourth Earl of Loudoun.
Even before its official founding there had been settlements in the area as Quakers, Germans, and Scots-Irish moved in from Pennsylvania and Maryland, as well as English and African slaves coming in from Tidewater. Loudoun was thriving by the time of the American Revolution, earning the name “Breadbasket of the Revolution” from its bountiful agriculture that was used to feed General George Washington’s army. During the War of 1812, important government documents were moved to Leesburg for safe keeping. Several important battles took place in Loudoun during the Civil War, including those of Aldie, Middleburg, and Upperville. Growth in Loudoun really took off after 1962, when Washington Dulles International Airport was built and planned communities saw a tremendous boom. There was literally exponential population growth from that point forward over the next decades.
Loudoun County Public Schools is the largest employer in the county, followed by the County of Loudoun, M.C. Dean, Inc., Verizon Business, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. And as for transportation, the aforementioned Washington Dulles and Leesburg Executive Airports serve the area. The county operates its own public bus system, called the Loudoun County Commuter Bus. The Silver Line of the Washington Metro runs into Loudoun, with stations at the International Airport and two stops in Ashburn.
Homes in Loudoun County tend to be lovely and expensive, reflective of the county’s high income status. The school system is a great one, and a variety of amenities within individual cities make Loudoun a great place to live. This is one of the best counties in the state for raising a family — by purchasing real estate in the Loudoun County School District, you are doing more than securing your child's educational opportunities, but also setting up your family for the ideal setting to create a balanced like of family, work, play, convenience, and nature.
