Ashburn, Virginia 

Welcome to Ashburn, VA. Ashburn is a gorgeous, prosperous community in Loudoun County. Right alongside it is the planned community of Brambleton. The two communities are best known for their oversized, impressive homes, many of which are priced in the seven-digit range. The combined population of Ashburn and Brambleton numbers about 60,000 residents, the majority of whom are affluent. The communities are 30 miles northwest of Washington, D.C. and are considered part of the Greater Washington metro area. Ashburn was listed by CNN Money as one of the best places to live in the United States.

Ashburn consists of several planned communities, all of which are in near proximity to Sterling, Leesburg, Aldie and Herndon; it consists of the following zip codes: 20147, 20148. Ashburn traces its history all the way back to the 1720s, even before the American Revolution. It first shows up in records as a town called Farmwell. To avoid confusion with a neighboring Farmville in Prince Edward County, town leaders were pressed to come up with a new name. Local legend tells that lightning struck a large ash tree in 1896, which attracted spectators from miles around as it smoldered and burned for a week. The town was re-christened Ashburn in honor of the event. An alternate telling is that Ashburn was named for family friends of John Janney, a Quaker farmer who was one of the community’s pillars.

Most of the planned community developments in Ashburn began in 2000, meaning the homes have modern floor plans, fiber optic network infrastructure, and modern conveniences. The area is full of beautiful parks, including the 16-acre Ashburn Park, which is outfitted with playgrounds, picnic areas, and trails. The Ashburn Village Sports Pavilion offers swimming, sailing, and exercise opportunities. The community is bursting with shopping centers like Ashbrook Commons and Ashburn Town Square. Redskins Park, the training camp for the NFL’s Washington Redskins, is located in Ashburn. Also consider that nearby planned communities, like Brambleton, come with an additional range of parks, businesses, and amenities. This area is rich in activities and possibilities. 

Even more, situated in the midst of the Dulles Technology Corridor, Ashburn is a magnet for technology-related businesses. It will soon be the home of the World Trade Center Dulles Airport, the second World Trade Center in the state. Government contractor Telos is headquartered in Ashburn, as is Verizon. The community has convenient access to RT 267, RT 7, RT 28, and RT 50.

Ashburn is also a tremendous center of education. As part of Loudoun County Public Schools, its elementary, middle, and high schools are unilaterally excellent. In addition, both George Washington University and Strayer University have campuses in Ashburn. This area has a range benefits in each area of life, and there are amenities to grow with your family.
